Varicose Veins

What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose Veins are a common vein condition that causes veins to become swollen, twisted, and painful. Usually, varicose veins are simply cosmetic, but sometimes untreated veins can cause significant discomfort, pain, and even more serious health complications. The main cause of varicose veins is weakened vein walls, so regular exercise and a healthy diet can go a long way toward preventing it. If the condition surfaces, varicose vein therapy treatments and laser varicose vein procedures can quickly reduce or eliminate varicose veins.

    Causes of Varicose Veins

Varicose veins occur when vein walls weaken. Unlike arteries, veins carry circulated blood from organs back to the heart for recirculation. To do this, muscles around the veins tighten and relax to force blood toward the heart. The vein wall contains tiny “valves” intended to let blood through without allowing it to flow backwards through the vein. When these walls weaken, the valves can become compromised and allow blood to stall and collect inside veins.

Age, mobility, genetics, and ethnicity all play a role in varicose veins, with older adults, those living a sedentary lifestyle, women, and Caucasians experiencing a higher incidence of varicose veins.

    Treatment for Varicose Veins

Treatments for varicose veins include laser vein and varicose vein therapy procedures, like compression socks and sclerotherapy. Our certified vein experts have years of experience treating varicose veins of every severity – from mild to extremely painful.

    Laser Vein Treatment

Endovenous Laser Treatment is a minimally invasive procedure through which a thin laser fiber is inserted inside the faulty vein under local anesthetic. The laser fiber delivers energy to the vein wall causing it to collapse and seal shut. The blood flow is immediately diverted into nearby functional veins. Patients experience very little, if any, discomfort during this non-invasive vein procedure.
Laser treatment has proven to be up to 98% effective in clinical trials. Veins that have been treated are unlikely to become problematic again.

    Varicose Vein Therapy Treatments

We offer several effective options for varicose veins, including compression stockings, sclerotherapy vein therapy treatments, endovenous radiofrequency ablation, ambulatory phlebectomy, and the cutting-edge VenaSeal vein closure system.
